Humpday Hottie: Matt Lanter
It's been a while since I posted a Humpday Hottie, but I was just waiting for the right one to come along ;) Ok, and I was also distracted by my non-mothercity travels. I'm sure today's feature will have me forgiven in seconds though! Yes, another Matt... it really is just a good name ok?!
Matt Lanter beeped on The Blondes radar when he appeared and then thankfully remained in 90210. (Which by the way, is the perfect no brain activity required series to watch during exams). Born on April 1st 1983 in Ohio, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he was 8. After graduating highschool he went to the University of Georgia to study Sports Business, but that acting bug was biting.
He entered 'Manhunt: The Search For America's Most Gorgeous Male Model' but didn't win. He moved Los Angeles, and just began booking jobs because it's THAT easy.
Earlier this month, the steamy 29 year old proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Angela Stacy. Obviously she said yes... sad for us, but yay for weddings!!!
He also gets bonus points for being environmentally conscious and making green life choices :)
Happy Humpday!

Tuesday Tunes: Bombay Bicycle Club 'Fairytale Lullaby'
A month ago I was in fact in Bombay, although it's now known as Mumbai - perhaps that's why I didn't find the bicycle club. The band, Bombay Bicycle Club, are an indie vibe from London, and are named after a chain of Indian restaurants in the UK. Cape Town has it's own Bombay Bicycle Club restaurant which is just all sorts of eclectic fabulousness and nothing to do with curry.
Today's Tuesday Tune is a bit of magical whimsy.
If you want to ride a rainbow come with me
And I will take you in a magic purple sea
And maybe we will find a thousand sugar fish
And when you eat them they can grant you every wish
And if you want your friends to come then bring them all along
If you want to catch a star then walk my way
And I will take you where the night is always day
You can follow me if you really try
And maybe we will find a rainbow, teach it to fly
And if you want your friends to come then bring them all along
Bow your head and let your eyelids close on down
Where we're going you won't need to bring your frown
And you will find that all the things that I have said
Will come true when you are lying in your bed
And if you want your friends to come then bring them all along

A Birthday in Bangalore
This year I celebrated my birthday in Bangalore, India.
The boy back home outdid himself and made some sneaky plans with my lovely roommate, resulting in my day beginning with a surprise champagne brunch on our hotel rooftop with all the girls. Also flowers, yay me.
For lunch I found some thin-based pizza (this is an achievement in India I'll have you know) at City Bar in UB City, which wasn't badly priced although my drink cost more than it. Boo.
However that didn't really matter, as we moved onto Shiro (also at UB City) where I got too many free yummy cocktails and shots and a birthday cake and the most delish chocolate fondant. Yes, note the empty chocolate smeared plate.

A rush back to the hotel for some not-so-sober make-up redo and a dress change, for the joint birthday party that our sponsors threw myself and fellow birthday girl, Claire.
IPL: It's just not cricket
It's been awhile since I've written any sports articles. Working in India for 2 months I found myself in a land where rugby just does not exist. Cricket, however, was the pinnacle of my existence there. Here are my thoughts on the Indian Premier League, written for www.theyellowcap.com

Dr. Scholl's Commercial
Shot this in Cape Town last year. We had two days of rehearsing and danced a ton for shooting... if you blink you'll miss it :P I'm in a dress in the linedancing bit; you may see the dress as I'm completely hidden. Not quite a big break, but lots of fun :)

Thursday Thought
"Which among us cannot say that some of our greatest learnings have come from mistakes we've made? A mistake can teach us something we never forget; it spotlights an area for growth. Can you let yourself experience the perfection of imperfection? Nurturing yourself by accepting you will fail at times doesn't mean you don't try to avoid failures. But when they come you refuse self-judgement. You let past mistakes be just that - past. Your attitude is that yesterday ended last night. You recognise that there is a statute of limitations on past errors and refuse to wallow in self-punishment year after year." - DOROTHY BRIGGS

"You must have some vision for your life. Even if you don't know the plan, you have to have a direction in which you choose to go. You want to be in the driver's seat of your own life because if you are not, life will drive you." - OPRAH WINFREY

"Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more." - ERICA JONG
