Last week I spent all my food money on a pair of nude Aldo platform heels.
I am now broke and hungry.
But I have hot shoes.

Someone Like You Cover
Adele's Someone Like You.
Talk about one overplayed tune. I even have the sheet music and belt it out on my piano; add a glass of wine and there may be some tears (kidding, I'm not THAT depro jeez)
Truth though: Yes it's overplayed, but no I ain't sick of it yet. My dear friend Chowgaps drew my attention to this gorgeous cover.
Enjoy

Escape from Jozi...
No, not the title to the District 9 sequel nor Leon Schuster's next blockbuster (I may not be a big fan but the man sure makes a ton from his flicks), but I digress.
Escape from Jozi really refers to Dr Lem returning to the Mother Ship for a week, so much excitement for all :)
She's been busy saving lives and what not, but the Blondes just aren't the same without her, so hooray!
Speaking of Jozi, Glitter&Garbage, The Undercover Blonde and I had a little girly dinner the other night and ended up watching local fliek Jozi. G&G and I studied Drama and Film together so we feel we are allowed to make 'educated' critiques of films - and TUB is just a cinephile. No jokes, these Cape Town girls were fairly impressed. Besides for the overarching theme of being in love with Jozi - who really WANTS to be in that place?? - the script was fairly good, and there were some great performances. A tad long though, but then again that's Jhb for you, long meetings, long-ass traffic... it's like they expect you not to be doing anything else with your life. Oh wait, you're probably not, you're in Joburg. If you did enjoy life and its leisures you'd be in Cape Town with us.
We do hope though that wherever you are in your busy life, you can take the time to support some local cinema. Jozi gets some BlondeLove <3

The Absinthe Fairy
Got to get my green fairy on in a shoot with amazing photographer Robert Miller. The concept was inspired by Field of Dreams Absinthe a locally made French style absinthe. Actor extraordinaire Bjorn Steinbach was roped into playing the green fairy's latest victim (more like lucky me!) and was super fun having one of my oldest bffs Glitter&Garbage styling us.
I also managed to get my hands on a bottle of Primitiv Vodka - organic, handcrafted and according to their website 'sophisticated' I can't wait for the Blondes to get together and have a sophisticated time tasting it!

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles." - Audrey Hepburn

Brothers Streep
Long, long ago when Princess Kiki was still too little to have kissed any frogs, the Queen Mother sourced all sorts of brave people to babysit. Usually sweet ladies-in-waiting; but sometimes a few male counterparts were dragged into the situation too. There was one she remembered particularly, because he let her watch Baywatch when she definitely should have been in bed.
Moving on a few years (but still naive to prince-posing frogs) and the princess was allowed to sing sweetly along with a group of muso boys. The princess's singing abilities are not quite in the range of angels, and the muso boys went on to do their own (much cooler) thing. In times of holidays the leader muso would come guard the princess's castle and compose silly little songs on her piano.
And then one night (the princess now brave and wise enough to guard her own castle) sat alone with her dinner and her glass of (not expensive enough) wine and watched with amusement as the muso boys (the castle guarder and little-princess guarder and their friends) pleased the Idols' court with their catchy little tune.

TLC - we're up for it!
So the Pool Round of the RWC2011 is over with Quarter-Finals taking place this weekend (more champagne breakfasts anyone?!).
Sadly though for South Africa, Australia and hosts New Zealand, all have suffered some injury blows.
The Blondes are sad too.
Our Green and Gold hero, Frans Steyn, has done something silly to his shoulder and after being an epic warrior in our pool games will have no more world cup fun.
We like him because:
a) he's South African
b) he went to play in France, and we'd LOVE to know what he learnt up there
c) he's famous for his long...kicking distances
d) he's exactly 364 days older than Princess Kiki
In the Wallaby camp it's goodbye to Drew Mitchell with a hamstring tear (shall we offer with some stretching possibilities?)
We like him because:
a) he went to a school called St Patricks College, which makes us want to go out drinking with him
b) ok, seriously, he's an Aussie - how many good things could we ever list? Kinda cute and can drink is probably as good as it's going to get :P
And finally, the greatest heartbreak of all: Dan Carter.
What can we type to do justice to our sorrow? Poor Danny Boy, you really should have been more careful with that groin of yours...
We like him because:
a) he's still as good-looking as when he debuted for the All Blacks in 2003 - so we know he ages well
b) his ball skills are amazing. Read: models for Jockey Underwear
c) he's friends with Sonny Bill Williams (he that steals the breath away from The Undercover Blonde)
d) he likes to party in the Mother City. And so do we ;)

"I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman." - Anais Nin
